Runners: stats, binding cost and counters
Short answer
Runners are almost twice as fast as Shamblers but fragile. They unlock at Binding Pit level 2.
What it does
Runners trade health for speed. They reach a gate before towers can wear them down, which makes them the best choice for quick raids and hunts.
They can mutate into Spitters, which attack from range and go for towers first, or Skirmishers, which are faster still.
Cost per batch · 20 biomass, 6 serum
| Grade | Zombies per batch | Binding time |
|---|---|---|
| S | 5 | 1 min |
| A | 4 | 2 min |
| B | 3 | 3 min |
| C | 3 | 3 min |
Good at
- Long marches and far targets
- Quick hunts
- Screening Brutes from towers
Bad at
- Low health
- Poor gate guards
What beats it
- Rapid Fire towers
- Spiked barricades that hurt everything at the wall
Mutations
| Mutation | Effect |
|---|---|
| Spitter | Spits from range and goes for towers first. |
| Skirmisher | 30 % faster, first to the fight. |
Mutation cost for a full squad: 24 biomass, 12 serum
Tips
- Send Runners at far-off targets: less time walking means less time under fire.
- March a squad of Runners with your Brutes; the screen takes tower fire off them.
- Don't leave Runners guarding a gate alone. A heavy attack folds them.
