Live defense: the four orders and when to use them
Updated September 25, 2026. Figures come from the live game.
The short answer
If you have the game open when an attack arrives, the fight holds for 30 seconds while you give orders. There are four: Spore cloud (4 serum), Volley (3 serum), Reinforce and Rally cry (both free). Each can be used once per fight and lands the second you tap it.
The four orders
| Order | Cost | Effect | Best when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spore cloud | 4 serum | Your guards heal 60, every attacker loses 40 | A big wave hits a thin gate |
| Volley | 3 serum | Towers fire twice as often for 10 seconds | Attackers bunch up in tower range |
| Reinforce | Free | Up to 5 guards leave another gatehouse for this one | The attacked side is thinly posted |
| Rally cry | Free | The keep's reserve charges now instead of waiting at the keep gate | You have a big reserve and a weak barricade |
How it works
- It triggers for raids, wild hordes and blood moon waves, whenever you had the game open in the last 20 seconds.
- Each order can be used once per fight and takes effect at the second you tap it.
- Tap Send orders, or let the 30-second ring run out.
- If you're away, the fight resolves instantly as before and you get a push.
Questions players ask
What if I don't give any orders?
The fight resolves when the 30 seconds run out, exactly as it would have without you.
Can I use Spore cloud twice?
No. Each of the four orders can be used once per fight.
