Noise and the loudest settlement: quiet vs loud
Updated September 25, 2026. Figures come from the live game.
The short answer
Running loud makes producers 1.5× faster but adds 1 noise a minute per Scrapworks. Wild hordes within 12 cells walk toward the loudest village with at least 10 noise. Go loud only when your gates can hold, because a horde you beat is bound into your horde.
How noise works
| Setting | Production | Noise |
|---|---|---|
| Quiet | Normal | Falls 0.5 a minute |
| Loud | 1.5× (not the keep) | +1 a minute per Scrapworks |
Toggle it at the Scrapworks. The noise ring in the header shows your noise, and a Loudest chip appears when you're the loudest village nearby.
When a horde arrives
- It fights like a raid from the side it walked in: guards, barricade, road gate, reserve, keep gate.
- Hold and your defenders bind the survivors, up to your horde cap.
- Lose and it takes 30 % of your unprotected stock and wrecks one building. Wild hordes never cost trophies.
- Either way your noise drops by 40.
When to go loud
- Go loud when you have guards on every side and a barricade on each. Every horde you beat is free zombies.
- Go quiet before logging off if your gates are thin, or use a Silencer (5 gold) to drop noise to zero at once.
- Quiet Presses (a level-3 Scrapworks path) removes that Scrapworks' noise for good.
Questions players ask
Is it better to be quiet or loud in Voxhorde?
Loud earns 1.5× and draws wild hordes you can bind if you hold; quiet is safer when your defenses are thin. Many players go loud while online and quiet before logging off.
Do wild hordes cost trophies?
No. Losing to a wild horde never changes trophies.
